Tony Dandrades

Tony Dandrades is the anchor/reporter for Univision's top-rated newsmagazine, Primer Impacto. Television was Tony's first love. Even as a child in his native Dominican Republic, he would recreate the magic of a television studio in his bedroom, positioning batteries at different angles to act as cameras and converting his stuffed animal collection into his studio audience. Even now, after ten years of working at the number one Hispanic network, Univision, and four Emmy nominations, Tony creates that same magic for millions of viewers.

Upon finishing his studies in communication at the Interamerican University in Puerto Rico, Tony developed his skills at Puerto Rican television and radio stations before he found new opportunities in radio in Miami . Then he took his big step into the South Florida Univision affiliate.

Tony did a five-year tenure as weekend weatherman at Channel 23 in Miami. He was notorious for his live reports from festivals and cultural events, in which he skillfully mixed weather reporting with entertainment. He gained a huge following with Miami residents because of his spontaneous and charismatic style of reporting along with his sincerity and compassion.

In 1997, Tony left Channel 23 to work in "Primer Impacto", one of the top-ranked programs on the network. He now has five years under his belt as entertainment anchor/reporter. With his characteristic style and hilarious antics, Tony's interviews have always gone beyond just informing to reveal the many dimensions of the audience=E2=80=99s favorite artists. He has shown his fearlessness and impartiality in handling controversial issues, as well as sensitivity when working in the team coverage of the September 11 situation.

Dandrades has won the respect and appreciation of audiences in the United States and abroad. He has traveled extensively throughout Latin America and across the U.S. covering stories for "Primer Impacto" and "Ver Para Creer", the weekend magazine highlighting unbelievable stories. Tony has hosted events and festivals, lent his time and talent to telethons and other charity events and on several occasions he has been an invited host of "El Gordo y La Flaca." In June 2002, he delighted viewers with his amusing reports from the World Cup 2002 in Korea and Japan

Tony Dandrades understands the magic of television. He understood it before he even stepped foot into a studio.
